Thomas Tuchel will officially announce his 26-man England squad for the World Cup on Friday morning, with the Football Association streaming a live show from Wembley on its England app from 9.45am BST. The event will feature former internationals Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge, and Tuchel will give an interview.
The squad is expected to contain few surprises, with consistency a key theme. Harry Maguire revealed on Thursday he was 'shocked and gutted' to be left out, despite featuring in March friendlies. Tuchel had previously indicated other defenders were ahead of him, naming Ezri Konsa, Marc Guéhi, John Stones, Trevoh Chalobah and Dan Burn as preferred options.
Jordan Pickford is the undisputed No 1, with Dean Henderson and James Trafford as likely back-ups. Aaron Ramsdale and Nick Pope are out of contention. Tuchel has considered using Jason Steele as a non-playing training goalkeeper.
Fitness concerns surround John Stones, who has made only four appearances for Manchester City since December, and Reece James, who returned from a hamstring injury in the FA Cup final but was rested against Tottenham. Both could face workload issues in a tournament where England hope to play eight games in 33 days.
Tino Livramento is expected to be included despite a thigh problem, while Ben White is definitely out injured. Djed Spence's ability to play both sides may earn him a place, and Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly seventh in the right-back pecking order. Ivan Toney is the likely wildcard inclusion.
