Adam Sandler Confirms Happy Gilmore 2 Filming to Begin Shortly, Teases Travis Kelce Cameo

Adam Sandler has confirmed that filming for 'Happy Gilmore 2' is set to commence in just a couple of weeks. The sequel to the 1996 comedy classic will be shot in New Jersey, with a cast that includes professional golfers and a cameo from NFL star Travis Kelce.

Sandler announced the news during an appearance on 'The Tonight Show', saying: 'We're going to do 'Happy Gilmore', thank you. This is happening. We're getting ready to shoot it in New Jersey. We start in a couple of weeks. It's good. We worked hard on the script. We didn't want to let anybody down.'

Travis Kelce, who has previously expressed his desire to appear in the film, will have a role. Sandler praised the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, saying: 'He's gonna come by. He's a very nice guy. ... Funny and cool as hell. He's a stud and he's so funny.' Kelce had said on his podcast in May that he would 'do anything' to be part of the film.

Additionally, Sandler revealed that Benny Safdie, his director on 'Uncut Gems', will have 'a juicy part' in the sequel. Safdie has acted in various projects including 'Oppenheimer' and 'Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.'

The original 'Happy Gilmore' grossed nearly $40 million worldwide and starred Sandler as a hockey player turned golfer. The sequel is expected to feature returning characters and new faces, with Netflix officially announcing the project in May.
