Travis Kelce has confirmed he will return to the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2025 NFL season, signing a one-year deal with the team. The tight end, who had been the subject of retirement speculation, credited his fiancée Taylor Swift with helping him decide to continue playing.
Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Kelce said watching Swift pursue her music career with passion reminded him of his own love for football. “Knowing that she is doing what she loves helped me realize that I am still in love with the game,” he explained.
Kelce also expressed excitement about returning to the Chiefs, citing quarterback Patrick Mahomes, head coach Andy Reid, and the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as key factors. He described the team as “a lot of pieces that I just absolutely love.”
The couple announced their engagement in August 2025, sharing photos on Instagram of Kelce proposing under an arch of roses. The post, captioned “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” garnered over 10 million likes within an hour.
