Aston Villa held on to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the FA Cup third round at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the match ended in ugly scenes as players from both sides became embroiled in a scuffle after the final whistle.
Emi Buendia opened the scoring for Villa in the first half, and Morgan Rogers doubled the lead just before the interval. Wilson Odobert pulled one back for Tottenham in the second half, but Villa weathered the pressure to secure victory.
Immediately after the final whistle, tensions boiled over as Morgan Rogers clashed with Joao Palhinha on the pitch. The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, with several players from both teams joining in. Stewards rushed in to separate the players, with the incident taking place directly in front of the travelling Villa supporters.
BBC Sport commentator Jonathan Pearce described the scenes as 'an ugly end to what has been a terrific cup tie', adding that Rogers' celebration appeared to have irked Tottenham. Former Tottenham midfielder Michael Brown noted that the scuffle took place right in front of Villa fans and said the match had provided 'drama and excitement'.
