Toon fans honour Kevin Keegan at Baltic Centre display

Newcastle United supporters gathered to honour club legend Kevin Keegan at a free public display at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead. Thousands of fans had earlier paid tribute to the Magpies icon following his passing, leaving heartfelt messages, shirts, scarves and mementos outside St. James' Park, and those tributes now form part of the exhibition.

A Legend Remembered by Fans

Among the visitors was Beverley Smith, 50, a carer from Mickley, Northumberland. She described the experience as deeply moving, saying: "I'm here to honour a special man, a legend who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was so special and walking in toward really pulled on my heart strings, it was very emotional."

Smith, who has followed Keegan since childhood, added: "I've loved Kevin Keegan since I was a young girl. I used to enjoy playing football and wore number seven. I was given the nickname 'Little Kevin Keegan', which I absolutely loved!"

An Enduring Bond with the Toon

Reflecting on Keegan's connection with the region, she said: "He was so special, he had time for everybody. He showed love for all of us Geordies. He was part of Newcastle and always will be."

The display offers visitors the opportunity to honour the former player and manager, whose legacy remains closely tied to the club and its supporters.
