Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed optimism that a newly released video featuring him alongside sporting director Richard Hughes will finally convince supporters of the club's steadfast backing. The in-house interview, which also included CEO Billy Hogan, was published this week amid persistent speculation about Slot's position.

Slot has consistently maintained that he enjoys the full support of Liverpool's hierarchy, even during a challenging period that saw nine defeats in twelve games. He emphasized that he and Hughes communicate regularly and are aligned in their vision. However, Hughes, who played a pivotal role in appointing the Dutch manager in 2024, has remained largely out of the public eye since his arrival from Bournemouth until this collaborative video emerged.
"If it has helped for people to understand not only I say it but the situation because they caught that synergy or whatever, then it is a good thing," Slot remarked. "I can keep saying it but the moment you see it you probably believe it more. Then it is only a positive thing."

The timing of the video's release coincides with a significant improvement in Liverpool's form, with only one loss in their last sixteen matches across all competitions. Despite this resurgence, questions about Slot's future have lingered, making the public demonstration of unity particularly noteworthy.
Slot took the opportunity to praise Hughes's work, especially in light of Liverpool's recent £55 million agreement for defender Jeremy Jacquet, which pushes the club's spending over the past year beyond £500 million. Jacquet is set to join the squad in the summer.
"I said many times, how good his work has been in the last one-and-a-half to two years," Slot added. "This is shown in the signings he made and another time now with Jeremy Jacquet. He's done a great job for the club but also for me."

Slot provided a detailed look into Liverpool's meticulous recruitment process, highlighting the long-term planning and collaborative effort involved. He explained that his involvement typically begins only after Hughes and the scouting team have narrowed down potential targets to a shortlist of two or three players.
"It is a big club and a club that is run in a way that a lot of people put a lot of work into it," Slot said. "We do not think, 'let's sign a player tomorrow and we will start with it today'. The work that goes into that is so detailed in this club that there is a long, long period to go."
He further clarified that impulsive decisions are not part of Liverpool's methodology. "I don't watch a football match and say, 'Oh, he's a good player, why don't we try to sign him?' That's not the way we work over here. There is a lot of data and scouting involved and then a list is brought down to one, two or three players and then that is the moment that I get also involved. If we do a signing, that is never one week's work, let's put it that way."
