Liverpool manager Arne Slot described his side's 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers as an episode that 'sums up our season' after they conceded a 94th-minute winner. André's strike, deflected in via Joe Gomez, marked the fifth winning goal Liverpool have conceded in stoppage time this season.
Mohamed Salah had equalised in the 83rd minute after Rodrigo Gomes opened the scoring, but Liverpool's inability to create chances from open play proved costly. Slot said: 'Same old story. Recently we are picking up points because we score many times from set pieces, but what didn't change in the last five, six, seven games is that we struggle and find it very hard to score from open play.'
Liverpool remain fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester United and Aston Villa. Slot admitted his expectations have changed: 'I expected more from us than where we are fighting now. We have to do better and play better.'
Wolves head coach Rob Edwards, whose side secured just their third league win of the season, said: 'We have to enjoy these moments, we've had a lot of dark times. We're showing we're maybe not as bad as people thought.'
