Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has called on the club to resolve Alexander Isak's situation quickly, stating that if the striker cannot be reintegrated, he should be sold. Shearer's comments come amid reports that Isak has expressed a desire to explore a transfer, with Liverpool having had a £110m bid rejected.
Isak missed Newcastle's pre-season trip to the Far East due to a minor thigh injury, and doubts remain over his commitment to the club. Manager Eddie Howe has warned that the forward's attitude must align with the squad's ethos upon his return to training this week.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said he understands Isak's position but emphasised the importance of the club moving on swiftly if he is unwilling to stay. 'If it really is impossible for Eddie to turn him around ... I want him to be out now,' Shearer said. 'You get your big money for him ... and you get other people in.'
Shearer also criticised Newcastle's summer transfer window, describing it as a 'disastrous window' and a 'mess'. The club has missed out on several primary targets, including James Trafford, Bryan Mbeumo, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro, though they did secure Aaron Ramsdale on loan from Southampton.
