Paul Scholes has revealed he would take only two members of the current Liverpool squad at Manchester United this season, naming Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
Both clubs have endured slow starts to the campaign. Michael Carrick's side have picked up just five points from a possible five, with their only win coming against newly-promoted Ipswich Town. Liverpool are undefeated under new boss Andoni Iraola but have drawn three of their opening five matches.
Scholes and Littler discuss Liverpool talent
Scholes recently sat down with Luke Littler, and as part of the 'Cards on the Table' segment, the darts sensation asked which Liverpool players, past or present, he would have liked to see play for United.
Scholes joked Steven Gerrard would have 'been a good sub for us' before naming Van Dijk and Alisson as the two he would take from the current crop.
'I reckon people will be saying Gerrard, won't they?' Scholes said. 'He'd have been a good sub for us, actually, wouldn't he! I'm only joking, Steven, I'm joking.
'If we needed a player now, it would be Van Dijk. Or the keeper, I like the keeper [Alisson] as well. But apart from that, nobody.'
Salah added to the list
Littler, a United fan himself, put forward Mohamed Salah, who brought the curtains down on a glittering career at Anfield in the summer to join Turkish side Trabzonspor.
'I think I'll have to go with Salah,' Littler said. 'We've not been treated with right wingers, have we?'
'I forgot about him, yeah,' Scholes agreed. 'He's not bad, him, is he? We'll have two – Mo Salah and Van Dijk.'
United return to action at home to Tottenham on Saturday 10 August, with Liverpool hosting Manchester City the following day. The arch-rivals meet for the first time this season on 22 November at Anfield.
