Arsenal have been handed a significant boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle, as Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori are set to return from injury. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the duo are available, providing a timely lift to the Gunners' title aspirations.
Title race implications
Arsenal can reclaim top spot in the Premier League with a positive result against Newcastle this weekend. Last weekend's defeat to Manchester City saw Pep Guardiola's side leapfrog them, but City are occupied with FA Cup duty against Southampton, giving Arsenal the chance to go clear.
Arteta's update
Speaking ahead of the match, Arteta said: "Bukayo [Saka] is probably going to be in the squad, so good news. Riccardo [Calafiori] is in the squad." Saka had been nursing an Achilles problem after withdrawing from the England squad, while Calafiori picked up a knock before the Bournemouth game earlier this month. Arteta added: "He [Saka] was in great spirits today in the sun; you could see that today."
However, Arsenal will still be without Jurrien Timber, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since facing Everton last month.
