Former Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs, 47, and his girlfriend Zara Charles, 33, have been pictured enjoying a ski trip together, despite Giggs facing assault charges. The couple were seen at Manchester Airport before jetting off to Spain, with Giggs wearing an all-black outfit and matching face mask, while Charles sported a leopard print top, crop top, white blazer, and stonewash jeans.
Charles was initially reprimanded by airport staff for not wearing a face mask, but subsequently complied. The pair appeared in good spirits as they checked in for their flight, amid Giggs's ongoing legal troubles.
Giggs is currently on conditional police bail pending a trial in January, where he faces charges of actual bodily harm for allegedly headbutting his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville, 36, and controlling or coercive behaviour. He is also charged with common assault for allegedly hitting Greville's sister, Emma, during an incident at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, on 1 November.
Giggs has pleaded not guilty to all three charges. His trial is set to begin on 24 January and is expected to last up to three weeks. Potential jurors will be asked about any allegiance to a football team.
In a statement following the charges, Giggs said: "I have full respect for the due process of law and understand the seriousness of the allegations. I will plead not guilty in court and look forward to clearing my name." He stepped down as manager of the Wales national team when the allegations came to light and was replaced by Robert Page for Euro 2020.
