Ruben Dias denies cheating on Maya Jama after grandad's question

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has denied cheating on Maya Jama after his grandfather questioned him about the rumours. The Portugal international was in an 18-month relationship with the Celebrity Traitors star, which ended in April 2026.

Shortly after the couple confirmed their split, allegations of infidelity began circulating publicly. Dias said he felt compelled to address the matter after his grandfather raised it with him.

Dias's statement on the allegations

The 29-year-old published a statement at the time, saying: "When my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I've cheated on my girlfriend because he's seen it repeatedly on the news, that's where I draw the line on what's acceptable and what's not."

He added: "Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard."

Dias also defended Jama, who remains undiscovered as one of three Traitors on the BBC show. He credited the Love Island presenter for handling the break-up "in a very mature way" and said she deserves "all the respect in the world."

Jama's current role on Celebrity Traitors

Dias said he had previously chosen to remain silent on such matters, adding: "But I also believe it's wrong to lie to people and to portray an opposite image of someone just for clickbait."

Jama is currently working alongside comedian James Acaster and influencer King Kenny to defeat the Faithfuls and raise money for charity. The show returns on Thursday, when viewers will discover which of Ross Kemp or Jerry Hall unwittingly seals their own murder, with the crime being yawning in the presence of a Traitor.

Dias's focus at Manchester City

Meanwhile, Dias is attempting to lead City's latest charge at the Premier League title. The club is awaiting its fate after being found guilty on 114 charges of breaching spending laws, though City have appealed the judgement and maintain their innocence.
