Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have named a new baby kangaroo being cared for at Australia Zoo. The young royals teamed up with Robert Irwin, son of the late conservationist Steve Irwin, to name the joey.
In a heart-warming video shared on social media, Robert Irwin introduced the newest member of the Australia Zoo family: "Cwtch," an eastern grey kangaroo joey. He explained that Cwtch is Welsh for "cuddle," making it the perfect name for a joey that loves to snuggle with its mother.
Irwin, who manages Australia Zoo in Queensland and serves as an ambassador for Prince William's Earthshot Prize, expressed his gratitude to Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte for their help in finding the perfect name. He encouraged visitors to look out for Cwtch on their next trip to the zoo and support conservation efforts.
The announcement was met with widespread praise online, with many commenting on the adorable name and the royal children's involvement. One user wrote, "Aww, this is so adorable. Gorgeous kangaroos, especially Cwtch, what a cutie." Another added, "Aww, Cwtch is so cute. I love that 'The Wales Family' picked this name for this sweet kangaroo."
George previously visited Australia with his parents in 2014 as a baby, meeting a bilby named George at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. The Irwin family has a long history of wildlife conservation, and Robert continues that legacy while engaging with the royal family.
