Chelsea's Liam Rosenior Addresses Enzo Fernandez Agent Comments After Transfer Talk
Rosenior Responds to Enzo Fernandez Agent After Real Madrid Flirtation

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has publicly responded to critical remarks made by Enzo Fernandez's agent, Javier Pastore, who labelled the club's disciplinary action against the Argentine midfielder as 'completely unfair'. This follows Fernandez being dropped for two matches after openly discussing a potential transfer to Real Madrid.

Fernandez's Transfer Comments and Chelsea's Response

The 25-year-old vice-captain missed Chelsea's emphatic 7-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Port Vale on Saturday and will also be absent from their upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester City. This punishment stems from Fernandez's repeated flirtation with a move to Real Madrid, both before and during the recent international break.

Fernandez had previously expressed openness to leaving Chelsea after this summer's World Cup and recently talked up the idea of living in Madrid, while naming Real legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric as personal idols. The Chelsea hierarchy deemed these comments disruptive, leading to the two-match ban.

Rosenior's Firm Stance on Agent Criticism

When questioned about Pastore's explosive interview after the Port Vale match, Rosenior maintained a diplomatic but firm position. 'That's his opinion. I don't have anything to say on someone else's opinion,' the Chelsea boss stated, refusing to be drawn into a public debate with the agent.

Rosenior emphasised his positive relationship with Fernandez, noting: 'Enzo knows what I think of him and it was brilliant to see him here to support the players today. We'll move forward and make sure we have a really good run-in in the season.'

Confidential Dressing Room Discussions

The manager was careful to keep details of internal conversations private when asked if Fernandez had apologised to teammates. 'I said yesterday, the conversations I have with my individual players, with Enzo, with anyone in the squad when it comes to things like this, stay within,' Rosenior explained. 'The dressing room is sacred.'

He continued: 'I made it really clear yesterday what I think of him as a person. He's a top, top guy. But at the same time, I want us now to focus on the football and achieve what we want to achieve through the season.'

Fresh Talks and Moving Forward

Rosenior confirmed that he has held fresh discussions with Fernandez since the incident, revealing: 'Enzo and I are in a very good place. I saw him today, had a really good conversation with him today one-to-one, and things aren't what people maybe think they are.'

Regarding whether Chelsea's sanction was appropriate, the manager suggested this would be addressed in due course: 'In the right time, in the right moment, which isn't now, going through what we've gone through, I'm sure the discussion will happen in terms of what's been said between me and Enzo.'

The situation highlights the delicate balance clubs must maintain when star players publicly express interest in transfers, with Chelsea opting for a firm disciplinary approach while Rosenior works to maintain squad harmony ahead of crucial fixtures.
