Rory McIlroy's Post-Masters Tournament Schedule Revealed
Double Masters champion Rory McIlroy has outlined his upcoming plans after securing a second consecutive victory at Augusta National. The golf superstar is taking a brief hiatus before returning to competitive play, with several key events on the horizon.
Immediate Withdrawal and Rest Period
McIlroy has officially withdrawn from the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town, scheduled to begin on April 16, 2026. This decision allows him to celebrate his successful Masters defence and recuperate from the intense mental and physical demands of the tournament. Following three weeks of dedicated preparation focused solely on Augusta, McIlroy acknowledged the need for a break to reset before resuming his rigorous practice and gym routine.
Upcoming Tournament Appearances
Zurich Classic of New Orleans: The team event in New Orleans, running from April 23–26, was a potential start, but McIlroy will not participate in 2026. He previously won this tournament with Shane Lowry in 2024, but Lowry has now partnered with former LIV star Brooks Koepka instead.
Cadillac Championship Comeback: McIlroy is expected to make his return at the Cadillac Championship, held at Trump National Doral in Miami from April 30 to May 3. President Donald Trump, who owns the course, has expressed anticipation for watching McIlroy compete, hinting at his confirmed participation.
Truist Championship: Following the Cadillac Championship, the PGA Tour moves to Quail Hollow for the Signature Event from May 7–10. As a four-time winner at this venue, McIlroy views it as a favourite and uses it as a traditional warm-up for the PGA Championship.
PGA Championship: McIlroy will aim to add another Wanamaker Trophy at the second major of the year, scheduled from May 14–17. His focus will be on leveraging the momentum from his Masters victory to potentially secure the first two majors of the season.
The Memorial Tournament: In June, McIlroy is anticipated to compete at Jack Nicklaus’s prestigious event at Muirfield Village from June 4–7. This Signature Event is highly regarded on the tour and offers McIlroy a chance to reconnect with one of his golfing idols.
McIlroy's strategic schedule reflects a balanced approach to maintaining peak performance while managing recovery after his recent triumph.
