Cristiano Ronaldo's £61 million private jet left Riyadh for Madrid on Monday night, as tensions escalated in the Middle East. Flight tracking data showed the Bombardier Global Express 6500 departed at around 8pm and landed in the Spanish capital at 1am, travelling west over Egypt and the Mediterranean.
The 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward, who earns £488,000 per day, upgraded to the luxury jet two years ago. It can carry 15 passengers and features a suite with a double bed and a separate shower. His fiancé, Georgina Rodriguez, recently used the aircraft to travel to Milan.
Despite the jet's departure, Al-Nassr posted a picture of Ronaldo training on Tuesday, suggesting he remained in Saudi Arabia. He is currently injured and not expected to play the club's next match. The Asian Champions League quarter-final at Al-Wasl, scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed on Monday due to the conflict.
Iran has targeted Saudi Arabia in recent days, including an attack on the US embassy in Riyadh and a strike on the Ras Tanura oil refinery. The US Mission to Saudi Arabia issued a shelter-in-place notice for Jeddah, Riyadh and Dhahran. Football in Saudi Arabia has been put on hold, with multiple AFC club competitions postponed.
