Radamel Falcao's father has disclosed that the Colombian striker turned down offers from Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Juventus to join Manchester United in 2014. Radamel Garcia, a former footballer himself, stated that his son considered United the most important club in England and was determined to play at Old Trafford.
Falcao, then at Monaco after a prolific spell at Atlético Madrid, moved to United on a season-long loan with an option to buy for £43.5 million. Despite interest from several top European clubs, the striker's father confirmed that United was always the preferred destination. 'Manchester United is the most important team in England and one of the most powerful financially,' Garcia said on Colombian radio.
The move, however, proved unsuccessful. Falcao scored just four goals in 29 appearances for the Red Devils, failing to replicate the form that had made him one of Europe's most feared strikers. After returning to Monaco, he had a similarly disappointing loan spell at Chelsea, scoring once in 12 games before a thigh injury ended his season.
Falcao later moved to Galatasaray in 2019, then returned to Spain with Rayo Vallecano, and now plays for Colombian side Millonarios. His father also revealed that a potential move to Real Madrid fell through, claiming the Spanish club wanted the player to 'offer himself as a gift' with conditions that were not acceptable.
