The popstar sang FIFA's anthem 'Desire' alongside Nicole Scherzinger at the John F. Kennedy Center. The ceremony also featured Heidi Klum and Kevin Hart, with The Village People scheduled to perform later.
US President Donald Trump was awarded the FIFA Peace Prize, saying: "This is truly one of the great honours of my life." The prize recognises exceptional contributions to peace and unity.
England and Scotland have qualified for the tournament, while Wales contest a play-off in March. Former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate said he hopes his former side avoid Colombia, Japan or Scotland in the draw.
Southgate confirmed he will not do any media work during the World Cup, stating: "I think I've got to give them space."
