Rashford Secures First Trophy with Barcelona in Super Cup Win

Marcus Rashford celebrated his first trophy with Barcelona after the Catalan giants defeated Real Madrid 3-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final in Jeddah. The forward came off the bench for the final eight minutes of normal time as goals from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski secured the victory.

Rashford, who joined Barcelona on a season-long loan from Manchester United in the summer, nearly added a fourth goal in stoppage time but missed a clear chance. After the match, he posted on Instagram: 'SUPER CUP CHAMPIONS What a way to start the year!!'

The loan deal includes an option for the La Liga leaders to sign him permanently for around £26 million. Upon joining, Rashford stated: 'This team has the foundations to achieve it. Otherwise, they would not have won three trophies last season. The mentality and motivation are high; I don't see any reason not to win all the trophies we play.'

In an interview with Barcelona's YouTube channel in October, Rashford expressed his desire to stay beyond the current season. 'I'm really enjoying my time in Spain. The weather is the best part. It's a very big change. I'm learning every day, I'm really enjoying it. I hope to be here for a long time,' he said. He added: 'I'm enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game, so to play here is an honour.'
