Rangers' under-19 side sealed a place in the UEFA Youth League last 32 with a 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv at Stirling Albion's Forthbank stadium, completing a 5-3 aggregate win. The result sets up a two-legged tie against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
Kyle Glasgow, on loan at Alloa Athletic, scored in both legs of the tie. Lewis Stewart and Max Cameron also found the net with impressive strikes as Rangers overturned a 3-2 deficit from the first leg in Poland.
Comeback Victory
Stevie Smith's side produced a dominant display in front of a healthy crowd, turning around the tie after trailing from the away fixture. The front three all got on the scoresheet as Rangers responded to the challenge of needing a big performance on the night.
Glasgow told Rangers TV: "I'm absolutely buzzing for me and the lads. We were 3-2 down going into the night so we knew we needed a big performance and it was almost perfect."
Next Round Details
Rangers will now face AZ Alkmaar, who defeated Goztepe of Turkey. The first leg is scheduled for November 25 at home, with the return match taking place in the Netherlands on December 9.
The competition is split into two sections, with the Champions League path mirroring the first team competition. Rangers are competing in the domestic champions path for teams that won their respective leagues, with the eight teams that progress joining the eight Champions League path survivors in a one-off game. The semi-finals and finals are played in the form of a final tournament.
