Rangers manager Danny Rohl is confident that the introduction of Danish winger Andreas Skov Olsen will provide his team with the clinical finishing touch they have been lacking, despite securing a 1-0 victory over Ludogorets at Ibrox in the Europa League.
European Exit Despite Victory
The narrow win, courtesy of a first-half goal from Mohamed Diomande, marked Rohl's first European triumph as Rangers boss. However, it was not enough to prevent their elimination from the competition, as results elsewhere went against them. The Scottish side bowed out despite the positive result on home soil.
Missed Opportunities Highlight Need for Sharpness
Rohl acknowledged that his team lacked a killer instinct in the final third, particularly in the second half where they wasted several clear chances to make the scoreline more emphatic against the Bulgarian champions. This profligacy underscored a recurring issue for the Glasgow club.
'We created some good moments, but it's this final calmness on the ball that we miss,' Rohl admitted in his post-match analysis. 'But this is something that hopefully Skov helps us with very soon.'
New Signing Set for Immediate Impact
Andreas Skov Olsen, who arrives with a considerable reputation, is poised to make his debut against Dundee this Sunday. Rohl is adamant that the Danish international will deliver a significant injection of firepower and quality as Rangers aim to sharpen their attack for the crucial domestic title run-in.
'He is a player who can be a good part, I saw this already during the week,' Rohl stated. 'It is great that he will be available for us on Sunday.'
Focus on Momentum and Improvement
Despite the European disappointment, Rohl highlighted the positive momentum within the squad. Rangers have now secured seven consecutive victories across all competitions, alongside six clean sheets in their last nine matches. The manager views the first European win as a further boost to this growing confidence.
'We have good momentum. The first win in Europe is good for us as it keeps this momentum. Seven wins in a row is fantastic,' he said.
However, Rohl remains a demanding figure, refusing to overlook areas requiring improvement. He emphasised the need to minimise chances conceded to opponents, citing that the team still relies on crucial saves from their goalkeeper to stay in games.
'I will not close my eyes and say everything was nice. We still have to improve. We have to demand of ourselves high standards,' he insisted.
Domestic Focus Intensifies
With European commitments now concluded for the season, all attention shifts firmly back to the Scottish Premiership title race. Rangers host Dundee at Ibrox this weekend, while title rivals Hearts and Celtic face off at Tynecastle.
Rohl asserted that his focus remains solely on his own team's performance, dismissing any distraction from the results of others.
'I look just to ourselves. If we do our homework until the end of the season, we have a big chance,' he declared. 'The teams around us can do what they want. We focus on our own and we take the wins, then we can smile at the end of the season.'
The manager concluded by stressing the relentless schedule ahead, demanding 100 percent commitment in every match to maintain their winning streak and challenge for the championship.
