Kristian Prenga has issued a stark warning to Anthony Joshua, asserting that the former two-time world heavyweight champion made a grave error in selecting him as his opponent for a comeback fight in July. The Albanian heavyweight, who boasts an impressive record of 20 wins from 21 professional bouts, has vowed to disrupt Joshua's preparations for a highly anticipated clash with Tyson Fury later in 2026.
Joshua's Return to the Ring
Anthony Joshua, an Olympic gold medallist and former unified world champion, is set to make his return to boxing on Saturday, 25 July, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The British star last fought in December, stopping YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in six rounds. Just ten days after that victory, Joshua survived a fatal car crash in Nigeria, which tragically claimed the lives of two of his teammates, Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele. Since the accident, Joshua has been training with his former opponent Oleksandr Usyk in Ukraine.
Prenga's Confidence and Record
Born in Orosh, Albania, Kristian Prenga is renowned for his knockout power, having won 20 of his 21 fights via KO or TKO. His sole defeat came in 2017 against Giovanni Auriemma. Prenga, now 35, believes Joshua has underestimated him. "Anthony Joshua is a great fighter," Prenga said. "But he made a terrible miscalculation in picking me as his opponent. This is the kind of fight that changes everything in my life and his. I know they have big plans ahead after this fight. I know they are overlooking me. I'm happy about that. I will derail their plans and shock the world this July in Saudi Arabia."
Future Plans: Joshua vs. Fury
Joshua's record stands at 29 wins and 4 losses, with 26 knockouts. His much-anticipated showdown with fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury is expected to take place later in 2026. However, Prenga is determined to spoil those plans. The fight in Riyadh promises to be a stern test for Joshua as he seeks to regain his momentum and set the stage for a blockbuster meeting with Fury.
