The January transfer window for Premier League clubs will close on Monday, February 2, a change from the traditional January 31 deadline. Clubs are working to finalise last-minute deals as the window nears its end, with several big-money moves already completed this month.
Among the notable transfers are Antoine Semenyo's move to Manchester City, where he scored on his debut, and Tottenham's £35million signing of Conor Gallagher, while Brennan Johnson moved to Crystal Palace for a similar fee. Last year, Aston Villa signed Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United the day before the deadline, and Manchester City's deal for Nico Gonzalez was sealed on deadline day itself.
The window also closes on February 2 in France, Germany, Italy and Spain, but other leagues have later deadlines. Portugal's window shuts on February 3, while Greece, Turkey and Austria have until February 6, and Major League Soccer in the United States closes on March 27. This means Premier League clubs can still sell players to those leagues after their own deadline.
Last year's deadline day saw the biggest deals completed earlier in the window, including Jhon Duran's £71million move from Aston Villa to Al-Nassr and Omar Marmoush's £59million move to Manchester City. On the final day, Nico Gonzalez's £50million transfer from Porto to City was the largest, alongside striker loans such as Eli Junior Kroupi to Bournemouth and Stefanos Tzimas to Brighton.
Clubs have varying motivations this window, with Manchester United potentially cautious due to the lack of a permanent manager, while Liverpool invested heavily in the summer. Lower-table clubs have also been active, with West Ham signing Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe, and Facundo Buonanotte joining Leeds on loan.
