Trent Alexander-Arnold has been left on the bench for five of Real Madrid's last seven matches, raising questions about his decision to leave Liverpool for the Spanish giants.
Struggles at Real Madrid
The Liverpool academy graduate has endured a difficult spell since swapping Merseyside for Madrid, and his prospects under new head coach Jose Mourinho do not appear to be improving. Mourinho has preferred Denzel Dumfries and now Federico Valverde at right-back, leaving Alexander-Arnold as an unused substitute in five of the club's last seven games.
Liverpool's Right-Back Issues
Back at his former club, Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has faced ongoing problems in that position, forcing him to field midfielder Ryan Gravenberch at right-back in the second half of Tuesday's Champions League comeback against Villarreal. There is a strong argument that the Reds have never replaced the player who won everything across nine senior seasons with the club.
