Surrey Police have been called into Chelsea's Cobham training base after £30,000 worth of camera equipment went missing. The disappearance of the hi-tech gear was deemed suspicious enough to involve authorities, though it remains unclear whether the equipment has been mislaid.
Chelsea, like other elite clubs, extensively use video footage to analyse training and matches. The equipment is vital for illustrating technical and tactical plans. The club returned to training on Monday after a brief summer break following their Club World Cup campaign, which ended on July 13.
Head coach Enzo Maresca has also dealt with an injury to defender Levi Colwill, who suffered a problem in an early session. Maresca said: 'We had a problem the last two days about Levi Colwill. We don't know how long he will be out for. Hopefully not too long.'
However, there is good news as Wesley Fofana has returned to training and could be fit for the opening Premier League match against Crystal Palace on August 17. Maresca added: 'Wes is back, he is training with us. I don't think he is ready for minutes in the next two games but he can be ready for the Palace game.'
