Manchester City have confirmed that Phil Foden has signed a new five-year contract, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027. The 22-year-old England international's previous deal was set to expire in 2024, but the new agreement makes him one of the club's highest earners.
Foden's weekly wages will rise to approximately £225,000, more than five times his previous salary of £40,000 per week. This places him as the fifth-highest paid player at City, behind the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.
Foden expressed his delight at the new contract, saying: 'It's hard to put into words how happy I am to have signed this contract. I have been a City fan all my life. I've trained here for so many years and I've even been a ballboy. I love this club so much, so to know I am going to be a part of it until 2027 feels amazing.'
The Stockport-born playmaker has been in sensational form this season, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances, including his first hat-trick for the club in the Manchester derby. He has already won four Premier League titles and three EFL Cups with his boyhood club.
Foden made his senior debut in 2017 and has since become a key figure under Pep Guardiola. He was named Premier League Young Player of the Season for two consecutive campaigns and was included in the Champions League Team of the Season in 2020/21.
