The PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club has proven a formidable challenge for many of golf's elite, with 19 high-profile players, including Bryson DeChambeau, missing the cut after two days of competition.
DeChambeau's Struggles
DeChambeau, the two-time US Open champion and Crushers GC captain, entered Friday's round at six over par. Despite hopes of a rally, he finished at seven over par, tied for 114th place. His exit was one of the most notable among the 83 players who failed to advance from the original field of 156.
Other Notable Misses
Tommy Fleetwood, a crowd favourite, concluded his second round at five over par, continuing his quest for a first major title. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre matched that score after a disastrous 75 on Friday. Team Europe Ryder Cup stars Viktor Hovland and Sepp Straka also bowed out at six over par.
Other big names missing the cut included Tyrrell Hatton, Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, Keegan Bradley, Gary Woodland, Adam Scott, Billy Horschel, and Lucas Glover. The full list of 19 prominent players who missed the cut features Michael Block, Sungjae Im, Akshay Bhatia, Jimmy Walker, J.T. Poston, Russell Henley, Andy Sullivan, Garrick Higgo, Thomas Detry, and more.
Contenders Remain
Meanwhile, several pre-tournament favourites remain in contention. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler sits tied for ninth at two under par, alongside Cameron Young and Justin Thomas. Rory McIlroy rebounded from a poor first round with a three-under 67 on Friday, moving to one over par and tied for 30th. Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, and Brooks Koepka are also at one over, while Jon Rahm is at one under and Shane Lowry at four over.
The weekend promises intense action as the remaining players vie for the Wanamaker Trophy at the demanding Pennsylvania course.
