Pep Guardiola is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season after shock developments broke late last night. City have yet to officially announce the news that their legendary boss will depart after 10 glorious years at the Etihad Stadium. But former Chelsea and Leicester manager Enzo Maresca is in line to take over.
Guardiola Set to Speak Today
Guardiola will be forced to speak to the media and broadcasters tonight ahead of City's clash with Bournemouth. It will be the first time the Spaniard will face questions about his future since news broke that he will leave the club. It is rare that managers skip media duties for Premier League matches because it can land them and the club with heavy fines. Therefore, all eyes will be on Guardiola's mandatory pre-match press conference around 7pm tonight.
Storming Out of Interview
Guardiola will hope tonight's interview goes much better than his one at the weekend. Following City's triumph in the FA Cup final, Laura Woods blindsided the Blues boss live on TNT Sports. The presenter asked: "Pep, there are so many rumours aren't there, about you leaving. You're not are you?" Guardiola acted puzzled and responded: "What rumours?" Woods then repeated: "Rumours!" But Guardiola cut the conversation short by saying: "Have a lovely evening!" He then stormed off the set. Tonight will be Guardiola's first live TV interview since the weekend.
City are locked in a fierce title battle with Arsenal and need to beat Bournemouth tonight to keep their silverware hopes alive. However, that clash has been overshadowed by the news that Guardiola will leave his position a year before his contract is due to expire.
