Pat Nevin backs Everton to sign Rico Lewis and Liam Delap

Former Everton winger Pat Nevin has backed the club to sign Manchester City's Rico Lewis and Chelsea's Liam Delap, describing the duo as players who will 'push the Blues forward'. Everton have spent just over £50m this summer on Hayden Hackney, Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George, with right-back and centre forward still seen as priority positions.

Nevin on Lewis and Delap

Lewis, 21, has made 116 appearances for City and won two Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup, but has been on the fringes recently. Nevin believes a move to Everton could revive his career. 'I could see Rico Lewis at Everton. The list of players who have left Manchester City and become brilliant is long, look at Oscar Bobb,' Nevin said. 'Rico is a quality player who has adapted to several positions and learned from the best. City aren't getting rid of him because he's hopeless, there's just no space. It's a great move that would push Everton forward.'

On Delap, Nevin added: 'Players like Lewis and Liam Delap are exactly what they need.' Delap would follow Tyrique George from Chelsea to Everton.

Tyrique George praised

Nevin also backed the signing of Tyrique George, calling it a 'no-brainer'. 'He's not going to get a sniff at Chelsea, whereas at Everton he looks freed. He can play wide or through the middle. He has to fill out a bit, but he has 100% got the quality,' Nevin told Betano Online Casino. 'I cannot think of anywhere better for him. He's working under David Moyes now, and Moyes 2.0 wants to play more attacking football. That suits Tyrique perfectly. It's a great move for both clubs and the player.'
