West Ham Eye Cole Palmer as Makeweight in Paqueta Deal

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City's young forward Cole Palmer, with the 21-year-old potentially used as a makeweight in negotiations for Lucas Paqueta. The Irons have already rejected a £70 million bid from City for the Brazilian midfielder, but talks are ongoing.

Palmer, who scored City's only goal in their Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, is keen to secure more first-team opportunities. However, with City pushing to sign Paqueta, Palmer's game time could be limited, prompting West Ham to explore a loan or permanent move for the England Under-21 international.

According to the Evening Standard, West Ham manager David Moyes may deploy Jarrod Bowen as a striker and use Palmer on the right wing. Palmer has attracted interest from Brighton, Burnley, and Leicester this summer, but has remained non-committal about his future.

Paqueta is eager to join City, but West Ham chairman David Sullivan is determined to keep him, especially after losing Declan Rice to Arsenal. The midfielder was instrumental in West Ham's Europa Conference League triumph last season.
