Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, having informed chairman Steve Parish in October of his desire for a new challenge. The Austrian manager, who led Palace to their first major trophy with an FA Cup win last season, is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with Manchester United.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's match against Sunderland, Glasner said: 'A decision has already been taken, months ago. I had a meeting with Steve in October... I told him I will not sign a new contract.' He added that keeping the news confidential for three months was best for the club.
Glasner also revealed that captain Marc Guéhi is on the verge of joining Manchester City and will not travel to Sunderland. 'My latest understanding is that a deal with Marc is in the final stages,' he said. He confirmed that top scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta could also leave for the right offer, with Juventus interested but yet to meet Palace's valuation.
Palace have made a €20m (£17.3m) offer for Angers striker Sidiki Chérif and are confident the 19-year-old wants to join. The club have begun searching for Glasner's replacement, with candidates including Getafe's José Bordalás, Rayo Vallecano's Iñigo Pérez, and Ipswich's Kieran McKenna.
Glasner insisted his relationship with Parish remains strong and vowed to give his best for the remainder of the season. 'We will do everything to bring another trophy back to Selhurst Park,' he said.
