Angel Shared is fancied to regain winning form in the Blackmore Building Contractors Handicap (2.50) at Bath on Monday. The Steph Hollinshead-trained filly, a daughter of Harry Angel, disappointed on her all-weather debut when last of seven at Southwell in mid-March but bounced back with a promising fifth in the Listed Lansdown Stakes over course and distance last time.
Punters often view a horse moving from conditions to handicap company with caution, especially when the form was gained at long odds. However, Angel Shared, who thrives on fast ground, has been dropped to a BHA mark of 84 – the same rating from which she completed a hat-trick at Newmarket last summer.
The selection, a previous course-and-distance winner, was held up last time but usually races from the front. Drawn in stall four, regular jockey Dougie Costello can take the initiative, and Angel Shared, whose trainer has been among the winners recently, should prove hard to catch.
At Windsor, Staniel Cay is the nap selection for the Betwright Bet The Wright Way Handicap (4.43) after a strong-travelling victory at Nottingham 16 days ago.
