A new special publication, Legends of Newcastle United, is now on sale, honouring the finest footballers to have worn the black and white jersey. The Chronicle's legendary NUFC writer John Gibson has selected his greatest-ever Newcastle players and managers, penning tributes to these icons of the game.
Gibson has picked 35 favourites from the club's storied history, including Alan Shearer, the Premier League's greatest-ever goal scorer, and Jackie Milburn, whose record Shearer broke. Others featured are Hughie Gallacher, Malcolm 'SuperMac' Macdonald, Paul Gascoigne, Bob Moncur, and Joe Harvey, spanning from Newcastle's first great side that won three league titles between 1905 and 1907 to the present day.
The publication also includes special features on the Carabao Cup-winning side and its manager Eddie Howe. It is available from Wednesday, February 18, in participating supermarkets, high street retailers, and independent newsagents, as well as online, with postage and packaging applicable.
