Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande has stated he will not leave the club this summer and expressed confidence that new manager Derek McInnes can end the team's trophy drought.

Diomande, who has two years remaining on his contract after joining from Nordsjaelland in 2024, is aware that McInnes wants to offload players before the window closes. Despite the arrivals of Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic in his position, the 24-year-old insists he won't be among those departing.
“Yeah, I mean I’m happy here and I think they’re happy with me. When I speak to the manager, he wants me here. So I’d say I’m happy,” Diomande said. “I want to continue as much as I can because I’m still under contract. I want to give my best for the team.”
The Ivorian has started both friendlies against St Etienne and West Ham and revealed the new gaffer wants him to stay. On the increased midfield competition, he added: “We’ve had it before and now they’ve brought more players. So I need to do what I need to do to make the manager see my qualities. I’m doing that every day in training. I try to show the positive parts of my game. I know it’s healthy competition because a lot of good players have been brought in. But I believe I have something special that the gaffer is going to see and he’s going to put me in the team.”
Backing New Boss
Rangers have won only two trophies in four years and one league title in 15. Diomande has yet to win silverware since moving from Denmark, but he believes McInnes is the right man to change that.
“Yeah, I believe so. He knows the league, he knows the team and he knows the background and history of the club. Also, he’s worked under pressure like last season with the team he was at. All in all, he has the experience to push us to where we need to be,” Diomande said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen but I’m sure that when we get to the important part of the season, he’s going to help us with all the experience he has as a player and as a manager. We have a lot of new signings so he’s trying to implement a style of play and I’d say he’s doing really well at the moment. The new players need to adapt to a lot of things but I think we’re in good shape and we’re ready to attack the season.”
