Derek McInnes has hailed the "aggressive" approach taken by the Rangers recruitment team and is hopeful of getting at least one more deal done before Friday night's Premiership curtain raiser away to Dundee United.
Seven New Faces
McInnes has added seven new faces to his squad over the summer, most notably Lawrence Shankland, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic. But the Ibrox boss admits he could do with extra numbers at the back and, more importantly, creativity going forward in order to supply the likes of Shankland, Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi.
Need for Creativity
"What we've got is some good options in certain areas of the pitch," he told Sky Sports. "We're a wee bit light defensively. We've got good numbers centrally and good options at centre forward. But I do think in those creative moments, we need the ability to penetrate more, create a wee bit more and more people who can isolate one-v-one. We've got good players here, but it's an area we can improve on and hopefully we can get that done."
Close to Another Signing
"I'll speak with the recruitment team after training today again. These conversations have been ongoing. We're close to getting one done we feel and we're actively trying to get one more done before the weekend, all being well. The recruitment team have been really aggressive in what we're trying to do and we're all singing from the same page about what we're looking for. Targets have been identified but getting them here is another thing. We're working hard to do that."
