Police have launched an investigation after violent scenes erupted at a non-league football match between Bilston Town and Droylsden in the FA Vase. Footage shared online shows a mass brawl breaking out at the end of the game, which Droylsden won 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals.
One clip appears to show a player throwing punches at spectators while a woman tries to restrain him. Another video captures what looks like a coach being chased across the pitch before striking a non-player, who falls to the ground.
West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to the incident at Bilston Town Football Club on Queen Street at around 5pm on Saturday. A spokesperson said: 'We are investigating after a violent disorder. No arrests have yet been made. We are working to establish the full facts and will be contacting victims to get full statements, and reviewing mobile phone and CCTV footage.'
Bilston Town released a statement acknowledging the videos but said they were 'not a fair reflection of the game as a whole.' The club added: 'We are investigating all footage from today's game and thank the supporters of Droylsden for their cooperation.'
Droylsden made no reference to the brawl in their post-match statement, instead thanking Bilston for their hospitality and fans for their support.
