Fulham manager Marco Silva has insisted he will not alter his management style ahead of Sunday's FA Cup fifth-round clash at Manchester United, two years after his infamous Old Trafford meltdown. The Portuguese was sent off alongside players Aleksandar Mitrovic and Willian during a quarter-final defeat in 2023.
Silva, who saw his nine-man side throw away a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1, stressed the importance of respect but made clear his passionate approach is here to stay. 'I learn from all the moments in my career,' he said. 'But I'm passionate and I'm not going to change. It's impossible to change.'
The Fulham boss was dismissed by referee Chris Kavanagh after reacting to a red card decision against Willian, following a pitchside monitor review. Mitrovic received an eight-match ban and £75,000 fine for his conduct, while Silva was fined £20,000 and given a two-match touchline ban.
Fulham were also fined £40,000 for failing to control their players. Silva acknowledged the difficulty of controlling emotions, adding: 'Emotions are part of a football match, we have to try to control our emotions. Sometimes that is not easy, depending on what comes from the game too.'
