Mansfield Town reached the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in over 50 years with a stunning 2-1 victory over Premier League side Burnley at Turf Moor. A brilliant free-kick from captain Louis Reed completed the comeback for the League One side, who had trailed at half-time.
Burnley took the lead through Josh Laurent after a rare moment of quality, but Mansfield improved after the break. Rhys Oates equalised with a header before Reed's decisive strike from 25 yards. The win marked Mansfield's first victory over a top-flight club since 1969.
Burnley manager Scott Parker made nine changes from the midweek win over Crystal Palace, but his side lacked rhythm and quality. The defeat piles more pressure on Parker, with the club languishing near the bottom of the Premier League. "You come into this game wanting to get a result and keep that momentum, and we've just applied that noise even more now," Parker said.
Mansfield first-team coach Andy Garner praised his team's effort: "The FA Cup's always been a fantastic competition – for Mansfield Town to get into this position, it's an incredible achievement." Reed added: "As soon as it left my boot I felt it going in. The lads said: 'This is your moment, go and take it.' Thankfully, I did."
