Manchester United are exploring a move for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall. The Magpies have already lost Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon this window, with Bruno Guimaraes also expected to join Arsenal.
Michael Carrick's side have focused on midfield additions so far, but left-back remains an area they want to strengthen. According to Sky Sports, United are considering putting together an approach for the 21-year-old.
Left-back options limited
United currently have Luke Shaw as their only out-and-out left-back. Patrick Dorgu has tended to be used in a more advanced role by Carrick, while Diogo Jota can fill in at left-back, though that is not seen as an ideal solution.
It remains unclear how much Newcastle would demand for the former Chelsea defender. A fee of £60m has been floated, given his age and his 84 Premier League appearances for Newcastle and Chelsea.
Newcastle desperate to keep Hall
Newcastle are desperate to hold onto Hall after losing so many key players. The exits of Gordon and Tonali have already hurt the club, and Guimaraes could still follow. Losing Hall would be a major blow for Matthias Jaissle, who only recently took charge following Eddie Howe's resignation.
United, meanwhile, are still working on other transfers. They have already bought Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos from Aston Villa and Chelsea, and are still looking to add a third midfield signing. Manu Kone and Aurelien Tchouameni continue to be linked with moves to Old Trafford.
Zirkzee swap links and pre-season schedule
Italian outlet Sportmediaset have reported that Juventus are considering offering Francisco Conceicao in exchange for Joshua Zirkzee. United have also been linked with the Portuguese winger, with reports suggesting they could offer Zirkzee and £26m for him.
On the pitch, United face Atletico Madrid in Stockholm later today, before taking on Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on August 8, Leeds United in Dublin on August 12, and AC Milan in Wroclaw on August 15.
