Manchester United are in Ireland this week for an intense training camp at Carton House near Dublin, aimed at preparing the squad for the Premier League clash with Leeds next Monday. Interim head coach Michael Carrick is using the trip to bond the group and assess options.
Patrick Dorgu, Lisandro Martinez, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have all travelled after suffering injury issues, providing a boost to Carrick's plans. However, Shea Lacey, Chido Obi, Jack Moorhouse and the Fletcher twins remained in Manchester.
Third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton did not travel, so 17-year-old Fred Heath completes the goalkeeping group. He will be looking to adapt to senior football during the camp. Right-back Yuel Helafu, also 17, has joined after impressing for the U18s and U21s this season, and will hope to show he is close to a first-team step.
Midfielder Jim Thwaites, 18, is another youngster aiming to catch Carrick's eye. The defensive midfielder, who captained the U18s three times this season, was part of the post-season tour to Asia last May and now wants to prove he can be trusted in rotation amid an expected midfield overhaul.
Forward Victor Musa, 19, completes the squad of youngsters. The centre-forward, who can also play on both wings, has scored three goals in his last three Premier League 2 appearances, including a brace against Southampton, and hopes to earn a place on the bench while first-team striking options are limited.
