Manchester United's director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, could give the club a key advantage in the pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The 21-year-old is a sought-after prospect, with Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan also monitoring his situation.
Sesko has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances since joining Leipzig in 2022, and the Bundesliga club are reportedly open to selling him this summer for around £75 million.
According to reports in Germany, Vivell's previous role as head of scouting at RB Salzburg saw him help discover Sesko, who moved from Slovenian club Domzale as a 16-year-old in 2019. United's recruitment chief is also said to have personally scouted Sesko in April, making him a potential 'secret weapon' in securing the forward's signature.
Despite missing out on Champions League football after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final, United chief executive Omar Berrada has insisted the club will back manager Ruben Amorim in the transfer market. Berrada told TNT Sports: "We speak to Ruben very frequently... We're making some big efforts to get us in the best financial position. Even if we're outside of Europe - I think we will be in a position to invest in the squad."
Amorim has also addressed the club's transfer plans, acknowledging the financial constraints. "We always prepare two plans: one with Champions League, one without Champions League," he said. "Without Champions League, we don't need a big squad, we can control the squad in a better way... Our big plan is to improve the team that we have, and to improve our academy."
