Man Utd Secure Maguire Extension, Mainoo Deal Expected Next

Manchester United have confirmed that Harry Maguire has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2027 with an option for a further 12 months. The 33-year-old defender's previous deal was due to expire this summer.

Maguire, who joined United from Leicester City for £80 million in 2019, has made 266 appearances for the club and served as captain from 2020 to 2023. He expressed his delight at extending his stay, stating that representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour.

United's director of football Jason Wilcox praised Maguire's mentality and leadership, describing him as the ultimate professional. The extension is widely expected to be followed by a new five-year contract for midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who has regained a regular first-team role under interim head coach Michael Carrick.

Mainoo's current deal, which includes a one-year club option, runs until 2027, but he has reportedly been offered improved terms until 2031. Both players were recently recalled to the England squad by Thomas Tuchel ahead of the World Cup.
