Man Utd candidates raise dressing room chaos concerns

Candidates being considered to replace Michael Carrick at Manchester United have raised concerns over the dressing room, claiming the squad "talk too much" and that it "needs order and discipline."

United have won just one of their opening seven Premier League games, their worst start to a campaign in 40 years. The pressure on Carrick, appointed in the summer, intensified after a 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League in Italy.

Players Speaking Out

Over the past fortnight, Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes have both spoken publicly. After the loss to Atletico Madrid, Martinez said he expected more from technical director Jason Wilcox, who had not provided the squad needed to compete across four competitions. On Wednesday, Fernandes blamed United's tactics on Carrick.

The Telegraph reports that a source close to one of United's managerial candidates said: "It's clear they need order and discipline. The dressing room is out of control and that is the first thing to fix." A friend of another candidate claimed the players are too vocal and need to show more respect for United's stature.

Managerial Options

Players who have had four or more different permanent managers at Old Trafford have been accused of playing major roles in the dismissals of previous bosses. Carrick came out fighting on Friday ahead of the clash with Bournemouth, underlining the need for his players to work hard.

Despite his defiance, United have considered another change. Former Germany and Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, 39, would be high on the club's list and is open to any approach. Eddie Howe is also highly regarded but left Newcastle during the summer and wanted time away. Others at Old Trafford are known to admire Antonio Conte, Unai Emery, or Fabian Hurzeler.
