Man United: Nagelsmann open to job as Hurzeler stance emerges

Julian Nagelsmann is ready to return to club football and would listen to an approach from Manchester United should the club dismiss Michael Carrick, while Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler would reportedly reject any move to Old Trafford.

The pressure on Carrick has intensified following United's 4-1 defeat to Como, a result that has exposed tensions within the squad. Captain Bruno Fernandes publicly questioned the team's tactical approach, while Carrick countered by highlighting the players' inadequate work rate, a claim backed up by statistics from the match.

Carrick to remain for Bournemouth clash

As reported by MEN Sport, Carrick will remain in charge for the home clash with Bournemouth on Sunday. However, if results do not improve, club chiefs may be forced to make a change to prevent the season from unravelling further.

Several high-profile candidates, including available unattached managers, have been linked with the potential vacancy. Yet questions remain about whether Old Trafford retains its traditional appeal to elite managers given United's persistent managerial instability.

Hurzeler stance on United approach

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler would reportedly reject any approach from United. The 33-year-old German has performed exceptionally well with the Seagulls, who sit third in the Premier League and are pursuing Champions League qualification.

Hurzeler has emerged as a possible replacement for Carrick should United opt to make a change. However, Brighton remain unconcerned about losing their head coach, who does not have a release clause, according to The Sun.

With Brighton seemingly progressing under his stewardship, Hurzeler is believed to have no interest in the United position at present. It is understood he would be more receptive to overtures from clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Arsenal, although such opportunities may be several years away.

Nagelsmann ready for club return

United will reportedly consider hiring Julian Nagelsmann should Carrick be dismissed. The former Bayern Munich manager was under consideration for the role during the summer before Carrick was appointed on a permanent basis.

With Nagelsmann scheduled to manage Germany at the World Cup, a switch never came to fruition. However, following his resignation after the nation's last-32 elimination in North America, he is ready to return to club football.

According to The Telegraph, the 39-year-old 'would listen' to an approach from United and is viewed as a frontrunner for the position. Nagelsmann has previously attracted Premier League interest, having been linked with both Chelsea and Tottenham.

Former Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, who is also unattached, would represent another strong contender for the role. Antonio Conte is understood to be keen on revitalising United, though questions persist over whether his forceful personality would suit the club.
