Manchester United have decided not to sack head coach Michael Carrick, who will remain in charge for Saturday's Premier League meeting with Chelsea.
The decision follows a week in which United suffered a 4-1 defeat at Como and a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at home in the Premier League.
Crisis Talks Over Carrick's Future
Captain Bruno Fernandes openly questioned Carrick's tactics in his interview after the Como loss and later suggested United had become too fixated on past accomplishments. Ahead of the Bournemouth match, Carrick spoke passionately about the standards of the football club and avoided questions about stripping Fernandes of the captain's armband.
In a show of defiance, Carrick dropped Fernandes for the Bournemouth game and refused to bring him on as United slumped to defeat. After the match, Carrick received a rousing reception from the Stretford End while the players were booed off the pitch by home fans.
Carrick Back in Training
On Monday, Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazer family entered crisis talks to decide on the head coach's future. Carrick watched the academy face Hull City in a behind-closed-doors friendly in the meantime.
Carrick returned to Carrington at 7.30am on Tuesday in his training kit as United began preparations for the Chelsea clash. At lunchtime it was confirmed that Carrick would be in charge for the weekend's game.
Chance to Turn Situation Around
United insist the 45-year-old will be given the chance to turn the current situation around, although notably the players are also included in that. With Carrick now having the opportunity to improve United's fortunes, readers are being asked whether they agree with the decision to give Carrick another chance at United.
