Man United beat Roma 3-2, Carrick cautious

Manchester United secured their first victory in 54 days with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Roma in the Champions League at Old Trafford, easing pressure on head coach Michael Carrick, who remains measured about his future despite the result.

Trailing 2-0, United turned the match around thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty and two late goals from Matheus Cunha. The win ended a run of nine matches without a victory across all competitions, preventing the streak from reaching double figures.

Carrick Stays Grounded After 'Important Night'

Speaking after the match, Carrick said he is not "getting too carried away with things" following the win. He described the evening as an important one for the squad, particularly for newer players.

"I think it's an important night. I think it's important for some of the players to have the feeling that they maybe haven't had here before," Carrick said. "Some of the lads that came this year, some of the boys that came even last year who maybe haven't had a feeling of that. I think it's important for them to know what that means and how it feels."

He added: "It's pretty obvious to say, but until you've really gone through it and felt it, and had to dig deep and come out the other side, sometimes you don't know what it's like. But we've got to take stock; we've got to stay calm and prepare and be ready for another big game on the weekend."

Fernandes Denies Clear-the-Air Talks

After the match, Fernandes denied that any clear-the-air talks took place with Carrick last week, as was understood to have happened before his return to the team against Chelsea after being benched against Bournemouth. Fernandes also defended the head coach's decision to drop him for the Bournemouth match.

Cunha, however, will miss United's next Champions League match after being sent off late on, having received two yellow cards during the final minutes. He could also face further sanctions from UEFA for celebrating on the pitch after the victory.

Pressure Eases Ahead of Aston Villa Clash

The comeback eases mounting pressure on Carrick to a degree ahead of Sunday's visit of Aston Villa and the November international break. United will now look to build on the result in their next league fixture.
