Manchester City host Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday evening, but have changed the name of the Etihad Stadium in the build-up. The venue will temporarily be known as 'The City in the Community Etihad Stadium' for the fixture, marking the first such rebrand in 15 years.
Match Details
The Sky Blues play host to Brentford at 5.30pm on Saturday, May 9, in the Premier League. The match will be televised live by Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event from 5pm onward.
Reason Behind the Name Change
The change is the centrepiece of the club’s annual Community Matchday, designed to highlight the work of their official charity, City in the Community (CITC). The event celebrates the long-standing impact of CITC, which has provided health, education, and inclusion programs across Greater Manchester for four decades.
One-Game Exclusive
This is a temporary rebrand for this specific fixture only, marking the first time the stadium name has been altered like this in 15 years. The move coincides with a significant financial donation from the men’s first-team squad to the charity for the second consecutive year.
Social Value Recognition
The club aims to showcase the charity's massive reach; CITC generated an estimated £43.7 million in social value during the 2024/25 season. By using the stadium name, the club leverages its global broadcast reach to amplify social causes to millions of viewers worldwide.
Visual Branding
Physical signage and digital assets around the stadium will be updated for the game, and players will walk out in special jackets featuring the CITC branding.
