Manchester City secured a sixth successive Premier League win by beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday. The match was the club's first fixture since an independent commission found them guilty of more than 100 charges.
Red card changes the game
Ryan Gravenberch was sent off for two bookable offences, giving City control of the contest. Goals from Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki secured the points and moved Enzo Maresca's side three points clear at the top of the table.
Fans back the ownership
City supporters in the away end travelled with inflatable bananas and showed support for the ownership, who have continued to protest the club's innocence despite the verdict.
Blues fans celebrated the victory with gusto, but the bigger picture as to what the result means remains unclear. City are appealing the initial verdict, and the sanctions hearing has yet to take place.
Uncertainty hangs over the season
The situation leaves a huge cloud of uncertainty hanging over the Premier League campaign. Maresca spoke after the game of trying to shut out the outside noise and focus on what his side can control on the pitch.
