Kansas City Current co-owners Brittany and Patrick Mahomes celebrated Mother's Day by taking their children to an NWSL match against the visiting Chicago Stars FC at CPKC Stadium. The Texas-born high school sweethearts were pictured with daughters Sterling Skye and Golden Raye, as well as son Patrick 'Bronze', enjoying a fortuitous day on the banks of the Missouri River.

Temwa Chawinga, the two-time reigning NWSL MVP, scored three times in a 27-minute stretch of the first half, giving the undefeated Current a commanding 3-0 lead. She was substituted in the 77th minute with the game well in hand.

Mahomes Family Festivities

It has been a fun week for the Mahomes family. On Saturday, Brittany and Patrick enjoyed dinner at the family's steakhouse, 1587 Prime. Brittany, a former college soccer player, shared pictures of the couple dressed up for their night out, joking on Instagram that her lacy red dress caused issues for her Super Bowl-winning husband: 'Patrick really loved having to button all these buttons for me.'

Days earlier, Patrick took Bronze to see the Kansas City Royals host the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium. Patrick, a former high school baseball star, reportedly owns 1 percent of the Royals. It is unclear how much of the Current he and Brittany control, but the team also lists Palmer Square Capital Management executives Angie and Christopher Long as co-owners.

Background and Health Updates

Patrick is the son of former MLB relief pitcher Pat Mahomes and the godson of retired reliever LaTroy Hawkins. Brittany revealed this week that she has been struggling for over a year with De Quervain tenosynovitis, commonly known as 'Mother's Wrist', caused by repetitive lifting and hormonal changes. She explained that after experiencing wrist pain during a workout, she finally sought medical assessment. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition is a painful inflammation of tendons on the thumb side of the wrist.

Patrick is recovering from season-ending knee surgery and is believed to be progressing toward playing in Week 1. Bleacher Report's James Palmer wrote, 'This is all pointing towards him playing in Week 1. It's not going to be rushed. There's still a lot of time between now and then, but that's where things seem right now.' The Chiefs have signed former New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers starter Justin Fields as a backup this offseason.
