Jones shared a video of the chaotic winter scene on his personal TikTok account, showcasing his participation and even boasting playfully to his followers about his snowball-throwing prowess.

In the now-widespread clip, Jones can be seen energetically launching snowballs during the impromptu gathering. He captioned the post with the phrase 'Snowball launchmaxxing,' a humorous nod to his technique. When a fan commented that Jones was 'throwing dots out there,' the quarterback jokingly replied that his throws were 'absolute rippers,' further amplifying the lighthearted nature of his personal involvement.
However, the event did not amuse Mayor Zohran Mamdani. His frustration stemmed from reports that some participants had begun targeting police officers who were on duty in the aftermath of a historic blizzard that had blanketed Manhattan. Mamdani issued a public statement urging respect for city workers.
'Officers, like all city workers, have been out in a historic blizzard, keeping New Yorkers safe and cars moving. Treat them with respect,' the mayor declared. He added pointedly, 'If anyone's catching a snowball, it's me.'
It is important to note that there is no suggestion or evidence that Mac Jones was aiming his snowballs at law enforcement personnel during the fracas.
Legal Repercussions and Police Condemnation
The fallout from the snowball fight extended beyond social media commentary. New York City police confirmed that a social media content creator was arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident. Gusmane Coulibaly, aged 27, was charged with obstructing governmental administration, classified as a misdemeanor, and harassment, a non-criminal violation.
The city's police department has since released images of three other individuals it is seeking to identify in relation to the snowball pelting. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch did not mince words in her assessment, labelling the treatment of officers during the event as 'disgraceful' and 'criminal.'
Mac Jones's Season and Trade Speculation
Amidst this off-field news, the 27-year-old quarterback's professional future is also a topic of intense discussion. Jones enjoyed a notably successful 2025 NFL season with the San Francisco 49ers. He was called upon to deputise for the injured starter, Brock Purdy, and excelled in the role, leading the team to a solid 5-3 record as the primary quarterback.
This performance has inevitably sparked widespread speculation across the league. Analysts and fans alike are pondering whether Jones could be traded this offseason to a team with a clear opening for a starting quarterback.
